Working with children and young adults
Children deserve a good start. They don't need to suffer from misalignments and carry them into adulthood.
I love working with the young people. Often positive changes from massage, cranial-sacral and movement intelligence work ensue quickly.
- I worked with a three year old client who had been hit in the head with a ball. After the incident she started complaining about a loss of vision and her family noticed her walking funny and off kilter while running into things. Fortunately, I was able to work with her cranial bones and introduce more rhythmic movement. Her complaints and symptoms were soon gone.
- A 16-year-old came to me complaining of upper neck tensions and headaches. She had had a few falls. By using gentle touch, I was able to release her cranial bones and help align her spine. I watched the overall tension she was carrying in her body decline and soon her neck tensions and headaches disappeared.
In addition to gentle touch, I offered her training in Movement Intelligence processes. This has allowed her to support herself when she is slipping back into old patterns of pushing. After only four visits, she shows more flexibility in her spine and ease of movement.
- I did a mother-baby massage with a new mother. The mother came to see me for herself, letting her baby sit in his infant seat on the floor by the massage table while I massaged her. After I finished the massage the baby started to stir and complain. I could see that he had taken on the tension patterns from his mother and needed some release. After I gently touched the areas where he seemed tense, he calmed down.
